Why does the ‘educate the patient’ approach fail to convert big dental cases?

Because it confuses content delivery with persuasion. Most dentists trained to educate the patient end up delivering a lecture full of jargon the patient never wanted in the first place. The patient leaves with more information and less ability to decide. Education makes the dentist feel competent. It does not move the patient toward yes. What works instead is structured communication: simple language, framed decisions, options the patient can hold in their head, and visible respect for the patient’s actual question (which is usually ‘should I do this?’ not ‘how does it work?’). Replace lecture with conversation. The numbers move.

If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
