How does running goal-setting exercises with the team strengthen a dental practice’s culture?
By turning the doctor’s plan into a shared one. Goals that live only in the doctor’s head produce one person pulling and a team that complies at best. Goals that the team has helped surface, refine, and rank become collective goals, which the team will protect and advance even when the doctor is not watching. The four-part clarity exercise works well as a team activity. Doctors run their own version first, then convene the team to do the exercise as a group. The team’s version may surface obstacles and opportunities the doctor missed entirely, because front-office and clinical staff see different parts of the practice the doctor does not. The combined output gets posted somewhere visible so it stays in front of the team daily. Practice culture is the byproduct of shared work on shared goals. Sharing the exercise is one of the cleanest ways to build it.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
