What operational basics make up a referable dental patient experience?
A short, unsexy list. Be on time for the patient’s appointment. Do what you said you would do, when you said you would do it. Admit mistakes immediately and apologize when one happens, then make it right. Ensure every team member is friendly and courteous to every patient, with no exceptions. Keep the office physically inviting: clean, comfortable, free of loud noise, free of environmental discomforts the patient cannot control. None of these items are exotic. All of them are commonly missed. Practices that nail each one consistently produce patients who refer family and friends without being asked. Practices that miss any of them lose referrals quietly. The patient does not file a complaint about a sixteen-minute wait or a cool reception at the front desk. They just do not tell their sister about the practice the next week. Referable experience is built through operational discipline, not through grand gestures. Systematize the basics. Referrals follow.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
