Why should every dental visit start with a check that all technological equipment is actually ready?

Because the technology will eventually fail in some way, and the only question is whether the failure happens during the visit or before it. Digital cameras for smile preview photography, monitors and DVD players for educational videos, intraoral imaging equipment, scanners, computers running the practice management software, projection equipment for case presentations, all of it carries some risk of malfunction. A team member checking the equipment before the patient arrives catches problems while there is still time to resolve them. The patient who arrives to find broken equipment, missing materials, or scrambling team members forms a permanent impression of operational sloppiness that no later recovery can fully erase. Add the equipment check to the pre-visit checklist for every appointment type. Assign explicit responsibility to a specific team member. The check takes minutes. The cost of skipping it can be a lost case, a damaged impression, or a frustrated team scrambling during what should have been a calm consultation.

If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
