What is the difference between slick objection handling and ethical patient obstacle removal?

Intent and direction. Objection handling, in the classic sales-floor sense, is a tactical move. The customer raises a concern, the salesperson deploys a scripted rebuttal designed to neutralize it, and the close keeps moving. The patient or customer is treated as a target to be managed. Patient obstacle removal in ethical dental selling is the opposite. The patient raises a concern, the doctor or team member treats that concern as real information about what is actually going on for the patient, and works alongside them to understand and address it. If the concern is real and unresolvable, the recommendation changes. If the concern is based on incomplete information, the doctor adds the missing context. The patient ends up clearer, not pressured. The difference is felt by the patient immediately and shows up in the rate of post-consultation referrals. Slick handling produces resentment. Real removal produces advocates.
