Who should declare a dentist an expert in their local market?
You should. Yourself. Waiting for local colleagues to crown you takes a career, if it happens at all. If you are at the national or international podium level, peer recognition happens naturally. If you are not, peer recognition is a lottery you should not enter. Build the credentials, the technique stack, and the case results that warrant expert status. Then declare it in your promotional materials. ‘I’m the most recognized expert in this market in X procedure.’ That phrasing is permitted by most boards. ‘I’m the best’ is not. The distinction matters. Patients infer ‘best’ from ‘most recognized’ anyway. Do not wait for someone else to do the work of building your reputation. Your competitors are not going to volunteer.
