Does buying more clinical equipment automatically bring in more dental patients?

No, and this is one of the most expensive misconceptions in the profession. Dentists borrow significant sums to buy cone-beam scanners, CAD/CAM systems, advanced imaging equipment, and laser systems, believing that the marketing will follow the equipment. It does not. The equipment sits and is used at half capacity while the practice struggles financially. The patients with complex cases never know the equipment exists because no marketing brings them in. The practices that pay off advanced equipment in reasonable timeframes are the ones that built the marketing and case-acceptance systems first, then added the equipment to support volume. Equipment without marketing is a depreciating liability. Equipment with marketing is a multiplier.
