How should dental consultation appointments be scheduled into the weekly calendar, and why avoid Mondays?
Designate two blocks per week, one morning and one afternoon, on days that are not Mondays. Mondays carry the accumulated chaos of everything that needs attention on the first day back: emergencies, urgent callbacks, weekend message backlog, team huddles, schedule fires. Trying to run a focused consultation in that environment compromises both the consultation and the operational recovery. Tuesday through Thursday offer cleaner cognitive space for consultation work. Friday can work for some practices. The block format serves two purposes. It protects clinical procedure flow from consultation interruption, so the doctor stays in flow on procedure days. It also lets the doctor and team get into a consultation-specific rhythm during those blocks, fully present with prospective patients rather than half-distracted by other work. As demand for consultations grows, the blocks grow proportionally. Phone team members offering appointments use the block structure to give two-option closes: a morning time and an afternoon time within the next available block.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
