How do you escape commodity pricing in dentistry?
By making your services impossible to compare directly to the practice down the street. Apples-to-apples comparison forces commodity pricing because consumers can read the difference in a glance: this practice charges $4,500 for implants, that one charges $3,800, same procedure. Move to apples-to-oranges by bundling. Include a written warranty. Add immediate-load capability. Build in conscious sedation. Offer a one-office treatment path with no specialist handoffs. Each addition makes the comparison more complicated, and complicated comparison defeats price-based decision-making. Patients buying a bundle they cannot easily compare make their decision on factors other than the lowest fee. Those are the patients you want.
