Why should a dental practice use unique phone numbers for each major marketing channel?
Because without unique numbers, the practice cannot tell which marketing channel actually produced which inquiry call. A patient calling the practice’s main number may have seen a billboard, a Google ad, a Facebook campaign, a magazine spread, a direct mail piece, or a referral from a friend. Asking them where they heard about the practice produces unreliable answers. People misremember sources constantly. The fix is to put a different tracked phone number on each marketing channel. The billboard has its own number. The Google ads have a different one. The magazine spread has yet another. Each number forwards to the practice’s main line, but the call is logged under the source it came from. Suddenly the practice can see which channels are producing real qualified inquiries and which are producing nothing. Marketing budget shifts to what works. Channels that look impressive but produce no calls get cut. This is how marketing math gets honest.
