Why do most dentists invest in clinical skills while neglecting business skills?

Because clinical training is what dental school taught them and what their professional peers reward. Business skills do not get the same airtime in education and rarely earn admiration at conferences. So the natural rhythm of professional development pushes dentists toward more CE, more equipment, more procedures, while leaving sales, marketing, qualifying, and team development under-trained. The result is a generation of clinically excellent dentists running financially mediocre practices. Buying the latest cone-beam scanner does not move the needle on case acceptance. Reinforcing the team scripts during weekly meetings does. The investment ratio between clinical and business development is wildly skewed in most practices. Rebalancing it is the highest-return move available.
