What is flow and how do I find it in my dental practice?
Flow is that state where you are so focused on what you are doing that time just melts away, and at the end you are tired but deeply satisfied. You have already felt it. Think of the procedures in your practice where the hours vanished and you walked out thinking it was a great day. Those are your flow procedures. My advice is blunt: find them and multiply them. Build your schedule and your case mix around the work that puts you in that state, not the work that drains you by lunch. A researcher named Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi spent his whole life proving this matters for long-term happiness. If no procedure does it for you yet, go looking for ones that might. The dentist who chases flow on purpose lasts longer and enjoys the ride more.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
