Should I hire for my weaknesses instead of trying to fix them?
Yes, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you get unstuck. You have operational traits, strengths, and weaknesses, and some of those weaknesses are not going to change no matter how much you work on them. As a professional service business owner, if you refuse to hire for the things you are bad at, you stay stuck, and being stuck is not fun. The dentist who is brilliant clinically but cannot have a money conversation does not need to force themselves to become someone they are not. They need a team member who already carries that trait. Look honestly at where you keep failing on the nonclinical side. If it is a true weakness rather than a skill gap, stop grinding on it and hire the person who fills it.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
