Why do successful dental consultants build independent business solutions instead of relying on industry vendors?

Because industry vendors have a conflict of interest. Implant manufacturers, equipment vendors, and lab partners profit from selling the dentist their products. Their ‘marketing programs’ and ‘case acceptance trainings’ exist to move more product, not necessarily to grow the practice. Consultants who depend on vendor sponsorships, kickbacks, or pay-to-play relationships will recommend what serves the vendor, not what serves the dentist. Independent consulting solutions, built outside the vendor ecosystem, can recommend whatever actually works regardless of which company makes which product. The independence costs the consultant some short-term revenue (no vendor checks) and produces better results for the practices they serve. Look for independence when evaluating dental consultants. It changes whose interest gets served.
