Do I need to adapt case report templates to my local dialect?
Yes, and skipping this makes you sound canned. A template written in one English dialect will read wrong somewhere else. My member doctors in the UK will tell you flat out that the wording in a US example template is not how they would ever say it to a patient. And for any dentist whose first language is not English, the report has to be rebuilt in their own language entirely. The point of the document is that the patient feels you are talking to them, in their words, the way people actually speak where they live. A phrase that sounds natural in one town sounds foreign in another. So take the template as a starting frame, then rewrite it until it sounds like you in your own community.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
