Should I send patients a personal note after their implant consultation?
Yes, and make it dead simple so it actually goes out. Have the envelope addressed and stamped and the card ready before the patient even leaves. After the comprehensive exam the doctor writes two lines, signs it, and it is in the mail same day. The reason is that you are still building liking and trust, and the strongest compliment you can pay is to praise the decision they just made. Something like, you made a great decision to start looking into your dental health now, and we are glad to help. That is it. You are not selling in the note. You are reinforcing that they are already moving in a good direction. Keep it short, keep it handwritten, keep it the doctor’s signature. The friction is what kills these notes, so engineer the friction out and they will actually happen.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
