What separates the most successful dentists from everyone else?
It is not talent and it is not luck. The top 20 percent of dentists got there because they are willing to do the things the bottom 80 percent will not. That is the whole secret, and it is almost boring how simple it is. The unwilling list usually includes showing up consistently, traveling when it matters, sitting in a room with people sharper than you, and doing the unglamorous groundwork. Woody Allen had a line that eighty percent of success is just showing up, and there is truth in it. Most dentists do not fall short because they lack ability. They fall short because they opt out of the uncomfortable parts. So the practical move is to list the things you keep avoiding because you do not feel like it, then go do those exact things. The willingness gap is where the whole difference lives.
