Why is phone diagnosis a bad idea for implant cases?

Because you’re guessing about a mouth you’ve never seen, and the stakes are too high for guessing. A man once called me asking how much a new denture would cost. Sounds simple. If I’d quoted him, I’d have committed to something the real situation might never support. When he finally came in, his vertical dimension was collapsed by 71 millimeters. I use a grapefruit to show people what that actually looks like in a face. No fee I could have named on the phone would have fit that case. That’s the danger. Phone diagnosis is lousy by nature, and quoting off a lousy diagnosis sets up a promise you can’t keep. Tell the caller you simply can’t diagnose what you can’t see, and that it wouldn’t be fair to try. Then get them in.
