Are dental practice systems more important than individual clinical skill?
Yes. For elective and big cases, this is no contest. Two doctors with identical clinical training can have wildly different case acceptance rates based purely on the systems running inside their practices. The doctor with a defined consult sequence, a real phone script, a structured fee presentation, and a follow-up cadence will outperform the technically gifted doctor without these systems by a meaningful multiple. Clinical skill is the floor. Systems are how you build on top. Patients cannot evaluate clinical excellence with any precision, but they can absolutely feel the difference between a well-run practice and a chaotic one. The systems are what tell them they are in good hands.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
