Should dentists size up patients by what cars they drive into the parking lot?
No. Stop running that mental survey. The patients who need serious dentistry and arrive in modest cars are often the ones who say yes, because they have not been pouring their earnings into a depreciating asset. The patients arriving in expensive cars are sometimes Type 2: they have the money and refuse to invest in themselves. Some patients pay in cash from a grocery bag. There is no reliable visible correlation between a patient’s appearance, vehicle, or social presentation and their willingness to write a check for major treatment. Doctors and teams who guess based on appearance bias their own qualifying. Let your system do the qualifying. The parking lot is not data.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
