What does “initial qualifying” mean when a new patient calls a dental office?
It is the first-stage filter that matches the inquiring person to the services the practice actually offers. The front-office team member, working from materials the doctor has prepared, finds out whether the caller has the mindset, the availability, and the financial means that fit. Mindset covers whether the caller is open to a comprehensive consultation or just chasing a single-tooth emergency. Availability covers whether they can come in within the window the practice needs. Means covers insurance coverage, ability to use third-party financing, or cash resources for the case size in question. The purpose is not to turn anyone away unkindly. The purpose is to be responsible with everyone’s time, including the caller’s, and to surface the right next step. A qualified caller proceeds to the consultation prepared. An unqualified one gets pointed somewhere more useful. The practice books fewer dead-end appointments and runs cleaner days.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
