How should a case presentation be tailored to the specific patient’s motivation rather than presented as a canned script?
By using the information gathered during qualifying to shape every part of the presentation. If the qualifying conversation revealed that the patient is motivated by an upcoming wedding photo, the visual and aesthetic part of the case presentation moves to the front and gets weight. If the motivator was sleep apnea and quality-of-life impact, the systemic health portion leads. If the motivator was chronic pain from broken-down dentition, the relief and functional restoration framing takes priority. The clinical recommendation does not change based on the motivator. The order, emphasis, and language used to present it do. The patient hears their own concern reflected back to them in the doctor’s recommendation, which produces emotional engagement and accelerates commitment. Canned presentations land flat because they are aimed at no one in particular. Tailored ones land because they are aimed at this person specifically. The qualifying work is what makes the tailoring possible.
