What image should go at the top of a dental case report?
Whatever is most dramatic for that specific patient, and you put it right at the top because it is what they are actually buying. Usually I want a full-face smile photo with a before-and-after smile preview, because the face is top of mind and that is the thing the patient cares about most. But some people will not give you a real smile, and you sometimes have to use humor just to get enough teeth showing to do the imaging. For other cases the intraoral shot tells the story better, the missing teeth, the failing plate, the contrast is sharper. There is no rule that the extraoral wins every time. Ask one question for each patient. What single image makes this person see what they are buying? Lead with that, not with a generic protocol shot.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
