What does the word SYSTEM actually stand for in a dental practice management context?
Save Yourself Time, Energy, and Money. A system is nothing more than that. The brain is already wired to create habits because rethinking common tasks burns calories and produces inconsistent results. Systems formalize the habit-building so an entire team can execute the same task the same way without the doctor present. The result is recovered time, recovered energy, and recovered money, in that order. Time recovered because nobody is reinventing the steps each occurrence. Energy recovered because the cognitive load of deciding what to do next is gone. Money recovered because consistency drives conversion and reduces costly mistakes. Practices that resist systems often dress up the resistance as preserving the personal touch. The personal touch survives the system perfectly well. What does not survive is the wasteful improvisation that drained the doctor and team for years. The acronym is a reminder. The work is to actually build the lists and use them.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
