When should a dental practice ask patients for their success story testimonial?
Set the expectation during the case presentation. Before treatment begins. The right line: ‘If we do everything we say we’ll do, we expect you’ll be willing to share your story with other patients considering this treatment.’ The patient agrees in advance, almost always. Then ask again at the end of treatment using a structured script. Setting expectations up front transforms a post-treatment ask from ‘do you mind doing us a favor?’ into ‘remember the conversation we had at the start?’ The compliance rate is dramatically higher. Practices that skip the up-front conversation end up begging for testimonials and getting flat ones. Practices that set the expectation get rich, specific stories from grateful patients who knew it was coming.
