Why is a not-to-do list as important as my to-do list as a dentist?
Every business owner I know, successful or not, has a giant to-do list. That’s just the state of things, overwhelmed and full of options. So the to-do list isn’t what separates the winners. The not-to-do list is. Deciding what you will not pursue is how you protect your time and your focus from a hundred things that look productive but lead nowhere. Self-management starts exactly here: what are your goals, what opportunities are you chasing, and which ones are you deliberately walking away from? When I plan, I work both lists at once. The discipline isn’t adding more, it’s subtracting the wrong things. So next time you sit down to plan growth, write the second column first. Name what you’re going to stop doing. That single habit will free up more capacity than any new tactic you could add.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
