How should I think about every patient phone call coming into my practice?
Treat each one like a red blood cell. Red blood cells circulate around the clock carrying oxygen everywhere your body needs it. Prospective patient calls do the same thing for your practice. They bring the oxygen in. The more of them arrive, and the better you care for each one, the healthier your whole practice gets and the more cases you do. That framing changes behavior. A call stops being an interruption and becomes the lifeblood it actually is. So look hard at what happens the second your phone rings. Who picks it up, how fast, what they say, whether the caller is captured and followed up on. Starve the practice of these calls, or handle them carelessly, and the whole thing goes pale. Protect them like they keep you alive, because they do.
