How do my personal relationships impact my career as a dentist?
Hugely, and ignoring it is a mistake. Relationships have a major impact on your happiness, and that happiness follows you straight into the operatory. As painful as it is to pull yourself out of a relationship that is bad for you, the long-term truth is that you are healthier keeping only the relationships that are genuinely good for you and that you enjoy. That is not cold, it is honest. A draining relationship at home does not stay at home. It shows up in your patience with patients, your focus during procedures, your energy by day’s end. So look hard at the people in your life. The good ones are worth investing in. The ones that consistently bring you down deserve an honest decision. Your career runs on the same battery your personal life drains or charges.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
