How does shame about my work or appearance affect my success?
It quietly costs you, and it is more fixable than you assume. Carrying shame about anything, your work, your body, a habit, your past, lowers your self-confidence, and lower confidence lowers your happiness. That drop does not stay private. A dentist who is ashamed of something tends to hesitate, to undersell, to shrink in front of patients who needed them to stand tall and recommend the right treatment. My advice is direct. If you have something you are ashamed about, get help and get it off your plate. Do not white-knuckle it for years. The relief translates into confidence, and confidence translates into a dentist patients trust with big decisions. You cannot ask someone to commit to major treatment from a place of self-doubt. Clear your own plate first, then go lead.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
