How many Americans actually have untreated dental needs they are not getting help with?

Roughly 150 million people, based on a reasonable read of public health data and field experience. The most recent public health service numbers show 16.4 percent of Americans aged 65 and older have no teeth at all because of gum disease and decay. Beyond that, large numbers of all ages live with untreated orthodontic issues, sleep apnea, TMJ dysfunction, broken-down dentition, and the early-stage problems that compound into bigger ones. Many of these people do not know what they have, do not know it is fixable, or had a bad professional interaction that put them off seeking care. The implication for any practice owner is direct. The market is not saturated. The bottleneck is rarely demand. The bottleneck is awareness, education, and the practice’s ability to convert inquiries into accepted treatment.
