Why does every dental practice run two parallel businesses under one roof?

Because clinical practice and business practice are different operations that share a building. Clinical practice involves diagnosing, treating, maintaining equipment, sustaining clinical skill, and serving patients in the chair. Business practice involves marketing, qualifying, selling, managing staff, tracking financials, and running operations. The two run in tandem to produce the desired result, but they require different mindsets, different training, and different daily disciplines. Most dentists naturally invest in the clinical side because that is where their education and identity lives. The business side gets the leftover time. The practices that balance both deliver clinical excellence with financial viability. The practices that ignore one side eventually feel the consequence in the other.
