Who should be the second team member at a dental case presentation?
The financial coordinator, in most cases. This person will handle the fee discussion after the doctor finishes the clinical and treatment portion. Their presence during the doctor’s segment serves three purposes. First, they confirm the options as the doctor presents them, lending non-doctor validation. Second, they become a trusted, peer-level advisor the patient can ask sideways questions of (‘would you do this if you were me?’). Third, they create the smoothest possible handoff from the clinical conversation to the financial one because they were in the room for the full clinical context. Any moderately likable team member can fill the seat, but the financial coordinator gets the most leverage from it.
If the answers you are finding here resonate with you, my team and I work with a small group of clients each year. The next step is a complimentary Discovery Consultation and Practice Review with Dr. McAnally.
