What is takeaway psychology in a treatment plan and how do I use it?

Takeaway psychology is where you make clear that treatment is not automatic, there are things both sides have to agree to first. In the report I have a patient expectations and responsibilities section, and it does double duty. It prevents problems that crop up during treatment, and it sets up the takeaway. The framing is simple. In order for me to do this for you, here is what we both have to commit to, mainly cost, the time care will take, and your responsibilities as the patient. That language gets copied report to report with small tweaks for the specific case. The effect is that treatment stops feeling like something you are pushing and starts feeling like something the patient has to qualify for. People want what might be withheld. Build the responsibilities section deliberately and let it carry that weight.
